A little about me

I am a Haligonian (Halifax, NS) who has aspirations of one day becoming a stellar photographer.  At this time I simply have fun, take pictures of anything that catches my eye, and hope for the best.  My preferred subject is any form of foliage but have been working on branching out and am quickly becoming fond of all stills, children and animals.  Maybe one day I’ll even figure out landscapes and cityscapes.

Please enjoy my photos, and I welcome constructive criticisms.  Anything that helps my art improve is a wonderful thing.

A little about my “Eyes”

I tend to be partial to the Canon line of cameras as I have been shooting with them since switching to digital in 2004.  I find that they are a sturdy camera and easy to use.  In my experience you can take beautiful shots, and the lens seems to always take crystal clear images (so long as you’re in focus).

Up until November 2009 I was shooting all my photos with a small Canon point and shoot.  I had long been hoping to purchase a large DSLR, and while I had not saved up all the required funds, the loss of my trusty camera prompted me to make a purchase and absorb the small amount of additional debt that was incurred.  As much as I love my new camera I realized that there would be times where carrying such a large and bulky camera would not be possible, I requested a new point and shoot as my Christmas present from my family.  Thankfully they came through and I am once again able to take shots of everything I see, no matter where or if a large camera would be too difficult to carry.

P&S:

Canon PowerShot SD1000.  3X lens, 5.8-17.4mm 1:2.8-4.9, 7.1 mega pixels (I am no longer shooting with this camera as I sadly managed to lose it on an airline flight November 2009)

Canon PowerShot SD780 IS. 3X optical zoom, 12.1 mega pixels, 5.9-17.9mm 1:3 2-5.8

DSLR:

November 2009 – Body: Canon EOS Rebel T1i, main lens: Canon EF-S 18-55 IS, macro lens: Canon EFS 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM
